They may look and sound similar, but these commonly confused words are worlds apart.
So if you’re judged by the way you write, here’s a simple way to steer clear of this easy mistake!
Then
Relates to time or sequence.
- We will meet with you and then we will meet with our supplier.
Than
Is used for comparison.
- Your services are more expensive than your competitors’.
Tip: Then can be substituted with next. If the substitution doesn’t work, you’re using the wrong word.
- We will meet with you. Next, we will meet with our supplier.
